A fully financed PhD fellowship in History – Cultural History of the Ocean or Public History of the Ocean at the University of Stavanger. The PhD project should be either situated in environmental history, history of knowledge, museology, cultural heritage studies and/or public history. Within these frameworks, the position is open to various topics, for example
- History of maritime museums and/or contemporary practices of maritime museums
- Heritage politics in a maritime context
- Histories of cultural transition in a maritime context
- Histories of knowledge and ignorance in a maritime context
The History group at UiS comprises researchers in a number of fields, with a particular emphasis on environmental history, public history and history didactics. The PhD candidate will be part of the research group “Blue Humanities and Environmental Citizenship in Education and Museum”. The candidate will also be associated with The Greenhouse Center for Environmental Humanities (https://www.uis.no/nb/greenhouse) and has the opportunity to participate in the Norwegian Researcher School in Environmental Humanities (NoRS-EH).
