On the 14th of August, LUCK’s Evelina Kallträsk organized a session on the history of knowledge in action at the 31st Congress of Nordic Historians in Reykjavik. The idea that inspired that session was that, in order for the field to develop further, there is a need for more examples of how the history of knowledge is actively applied in empirical research and discussions about what happens to the field’s concepts and perspectives when they are put to action. The invited speakers, Frank Ejby Poulsen, Mikko Myllyntausta and Victoria Van Orden Martínez, presented papers on how history of knowledge approaches are applied in their ongoing research projects and received insightful comments and questions from the commentator, Carl-Filip Smedberg. We were happy to see a sizable and engaged audience at the session, which bears witness to the interest in and development of the history of knowledge in the Nordics. We look forward to further discussions at the History of Knowledge Conference in October!
