Kajsa Weber has been appointed Associate Professor in history and Lund University. Her main areas of research are early modern Lutheranism, history of books and digital history. She is member of LUCK´s steering committee.
- I am very happy for the appointment and feel humble to be associated professor in Lund and be part of such a vibrant department. I would like to thank my colleagues at LUCK for support during the last years, Kajsa says.
Currently she is writing a book on the translation and printing of Luther´s text in Swedish around 1600.
“History of knowledge is one of my most important theoretical inspirations in writing the book. Until now Lutheran culture and print in the late 16th century have been seen as elite phenomena. History of knowledge and especially a focus on agents working as multiplicators, and mediators of knowledge has helped me to formulate a new history of Lutheran confessionalization around 1600 in Sweden”, Kajsa says.
The book will explore the work of translators, printers, publishers, and patrons in promoting Lutheran culture in Sweden, and hence argue for a wider understanding of how knowledge about the Lutheran faith circulated through the Swedish society.
Kajsa Weber is also the coordinator of the research platform DigitalHistory@Lund. The platform promotes digital methods in historical scholarship and help researchers to develop their digital history projects.
“It is inspiring to work in this field where things are happing so fast. My own research in the field concentrates on historians’ engagement in digitization. The remediation of primary sources into digital files will change how historians work. Though we know little about how historians have been interacting with remediated and curated source material. I find this fascinating and plan a new project in this field.”
