6/12: Cold War Knowledge: Social Science Between Manilla and Chicago

In the final seminar of the semester, Christa Wirth will present her research on the history of Cold War social science. Christa Wirth is associate professor at the University of Agder and has a background at the Zentrum Geschichte des Wissens in Zurich and the German Historical Institute in Washington. Her first book Memories of Belonging (Brill 2015), dealt with Italian labor migration to the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Earlier this year she published “The Creation of a Postcolonial Subject: The Chicago and Ateneo de Manila Schools and the Peace Corps in the Philippines, 19601970” in The Journal of the History of Behavioral Sciences (2018).
